Comprehensive Evaluations

Gathering information about you helps me to determine the most personalized treatments. I send detailed intake forms prior to the first meeting so I can review beforehand and best use our appointment time together. I’m interested in your prior history, symptoms and how they have changed over time, future goals, family history, and information about you as a person and about your life. If necessary, lab testing, discussions with your other doctors, and reviewing records may be done after the first appointment.

Medication Management

Strategically using medicines to help improve symptoms is a key component of treatment for many people. Choosing medications is highly personalized for each person. I prescribe judiciously, with your long-term interests in mind, and we discuss pros and cons of medication decisions so you can make informed choices. In some cases I help people reduce or discontinue medications no longer needed.

Therapy

Talk therapy can be an important part of treatment, and may involve exploring your relationships, behavior patterns, and dreams. It also can be very pragmatic to help you sleep better at night, make actionable changes in your life, and improve coping skills. There are many different styles of therapy, and we discuss which ones would be most helpful for you. It is fine to get both therapy and medication here, or to have a separate therapist.

Lifestyle Coaching

Changing habits regarding how we exercise, what we eat, which substances we use, and how we manage our time can be difficult. Creating a game plan, staying motivated, and overcoming obstacles can be easier with support, knowledge, and encouragement!

Nutritional Psychiatry

Many people don’t have adequate nutrition, which can affect how we think and feel. It can also impact the effectiveness of other treatments. Analyzing your diet, and making changes to optimize the nutrients needed for optimal brain function, can help personalize your plan.

Supplements and Vitamins

Not all treatments involve pharmaceuticals, and we can discuss the evidence for various vitamins and minerals that may help your biochemical processes work best. If you already take supplements, we can evaluate the regimen to help optimize treatment and avoid interactions.

Laboratory Testing

Analyzing your cholesterol, blood sugar, electrolytes, vitamin and thyroid levels can help evaluate for underlying problems, address deficiencies, help avoid potential side effects, and help personalize your treatment plan.

Genetic Testing

Every body is different, and medications may work more effectively for one person than another based on their genetic differences. We discuss when it makes sense to consider this testing, what to expect, and may use this to help efficiently choose optimal medications.
